January is National Radon Action Month

January is National Radon Action Month.

Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. It is estimated that 21,000 Americans die every year as a result of radon induced lung cancer.

The only way to know if your house has elevated radon levels is to conduct a test. Free test kits are available in Illinois at the Illinois Emergency Management Website - http://radon.illinois.gov.

Further radon information is available at Allied Radon Services, Inc. website www.alliedradon.com or the Southern Illinois Radon Awareness Task Force website www.silradon.org.

Please take time during Radon Action Month to test your house for this silent killer.
